Gentle Torment

Would you have to twist a broken heart
Which had no repair in sight?
For thousands of eyes I've looked upon why would a gaze affect me so,
When there's nothing I hoped for.
Would you have to twist the gentle sight
Of a mind already broken by another knight.
Why would you torment a peace already steadied,
A state of mind now again disturbed,
Just to rip off undesired hopes of a dwelling bird who could no longer fly.
For the wings have been broken,
And the songs no longer spoken again crave for a name never to be told.
For these vague hopes are nothing but impossible,
Why would you torment such a soul?
